On-loan striker Adam Smith is likely to continue after setting up Jermaine McGlashan for his first goal of a brace in the League Two win over Dagenham. The EBB Stadium is expected to be close to its full capacity of 7,100 as Shots fans flock to see Sir Alex Ferguson’s Premier League champions, fresh from a shock 6-1 defeat at the hands of fierce rivals Manchester City. Michael Rankine and Danny Hylton scored the goals that saw off the threat of Rochdale in the third round, and the latter will be looking to register his 11th goal in all competitions.
United are set to ring the changes after their thrashing at Old Trafford. Skipper Nemanja Vidic could return in place of the suspended Jonny Evans after missing the City game as punishment for his sending off in the Champions League, while Michael Owen was not in the matchday squad at the weekend and should feature. Danish keeper Anders Lindergaard will start, while the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez should be in the XI after bench duty against City. Antonio Valencia, Ji-sung Park and Fabio da Silva were all unused substitutes and could well form part of a second-string but nonetheless strong line-up as the Premier League champions look to bounce back in style.
